Washington, D.C. To Paris and Sicily: A Thumbnail sketch

Our Paris & Sicily trip has been on the drawing board since February, and finally, on Saturday, Sept. 6 we'll be on our Air France flight to Paris. We'll be staying with friends, and visiting acquaintances in Paris from a college student friend to a former Director at the World Bank. Paris also includes a canal barge tour and perhaps a day trip to Rouen and/or Fountainbleau.
We'll be traveling in Sicily with our friends from Paris, Herve and Evelyn, as well as a college friend, Doug, and his wife, Tamara. Our 11 day tour of Sicily will encompass the entire island, beginning and ending in Palermo. We'll sample Sicily's rich cultural history, including the Norman Cathedral in Monreale, the Greek temples of Selunite and the Valle dei Templi in Agrigento; the Roman Villa at Piazza Armerina; and the Greek city of Siracusa, home of Archimedes. We'll visit beaches near Ragusa, the ceramic capital of Caltagirone, and Mt. Aetna. And a few wineries along the way!

Ciao for now,
David
